Don Dees shares how he achieves success

What drives you to achieve excellence?

It’s in my nature to help people. If my clients are happy, then I’m happy. When people request my services, they’re making a significant investment in my ability to provide results. I’m here to help clients accomplish their dreams. I take that job seriously, and it motivates me to work hard for them.

What do you love about working with Dickson Realty?

I’ve worked in the Reno-Sparks real estate industry for more than 30 years. So, I’ve had experience working with different brokerage companies in the area. When I started working for Dickson Realty, I immediately noticed how dedicated they are to advertising and marketing. Their brand sets them apart from the competition. Everyone wants a Dickson Realty sign on their property.

What’s your prediction for the Northern Nevada real estate market?

The economy is on an upward trajectory with people moving here from other states. About 75% of my buyers are Californians now, and I’m predicting that we will have another great year in real estate as market values increase. However, we still don’t have enough new inventory to meet the demand. It’s unfortunate that younger buyers are struggling to compete with outside cash offers.

How do you give back to our community?

My wife is also my real estate partner. Together, we donate $100 of every transaction to local organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows and Ronald McDonald House Charities. It’s our way of giving back to the community. In 2020, we donated $7,800 to local charities. We also help sponsor charitable golf tournaments in the Northern Nevada region.

What’s a local insider tip you’d like to share with our readers?

If you love authentic Italian food, then you need to try a new restaurant called Pasta Fresca. The owner is from the Amalfi Coast region of Southwest Italy and is extremely hospitable. My wife is gluten and dairy-free and loved their gluten-free pasta. Every ingredient is fresh and locally sourced. We try to recommend it to all of our friends and family members.

If you love the outdoors, I recommend checking out some of our local golf courses and hiking trails. Reno is close to everything. We love visiting the Graeagle area. It’s only an hour away and has so much to offer.
