America The Beautiful!

United States Flag day

A new exhibition of oil paintings, acrylic, water media, pastels, and mixed media works from the Latimer Art Club, America the Beautiful! features a variety of art inspired by the famous song that begins: “Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain…” Free admission and all pieces available for purchase. The Latimer Art Club was established in 1921 by students and admirers of the artist and teacher, Lorenzo P. Latimer. For more information, visit latimerartclub.com.

Baby And Me

Geared towards babies from birth to one year, Baby & Me is a free educational and developmental circle time that meets once a week in the children’s healing garden at Renown. This fun class includes music time with baby and other developmentally enriching activities for parents and baby. Also included are discussions on a wide variety of baby and parent-related topics. Please note that this class is designed as a mom/parent and baby bonding time, but siblings are welcome to attend.


High Desert Harmony Virtual Music Series

High Desert Harmony Chorus is a membership organization of female singers with a passion for a cappella music! Since 2004, the group’s focus as an affiliate of Sweet Adelines, International, is on singing a cappella music in the Barbershop tradition. The chorus currently has 20 singers of all ages and all walks of life, from Reno-Sparks and surrounding areas.


Opening Night Extravaganza!

Artown’s traditional opening night extravaganza on July 1 will be broadcasted through Nevada Sports Net and Artown’s social media channels. This two-hour virtual spectacle of sight, sound, song, and dance, will feature personal messages and performances from Keb’ Mo’, March 4 Marching Band, Sheléa, Tim Snider, Vertigo Dance Company, Playing For Change, Jake Shimabukuro, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Hot Sardines, Kronos Quartet, Charlie Musselwhite, AJ Croce, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., Time for Three, Cool Nasty, Pamyua, Na Lei Hulu, Ensemble Mik Nawooj, Davina and the Vagabonds, LADAMA, Mariachi Acero de Las Vegas, Paa Kow, and Resistance Revival Chorus.


Run Nevada Virtual Adventure

Black Light Hair Show

Outsiders Hair Studio is hosting the Black Light Hair Show of the year, collaborating with Laxalt & McIver, showcasing creative projection mapping alongside the businesses of Riverside Drive. This vibrant Artown event on July 2 will feature glow-in-the-dark avant-garde hairpieces, body painted models, and a unique lights show. The socially distanced viewing party wouldn’t be complete without a DJ, spinning good tunes, for good vibes, with good folks.

Virtual Art Discussion

Enjoy looking at a selection of art from the comfort of your home. Join the Nevada Museum of Art for a Virtual Art Discussion on feature exhibition, The World Stage: Contemporary Art from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation. Virtual Art Discussions are led by experienced docents that will share interesting perspectives and invite inquiry and discussion. This program will be hosted on Zoom. Please have Zoom downloaded, and your audio and video features turned on. Please register by Wednesday, and a Zoom link will be sent to you on Thursday.


Breastfeeding Circle Virtual Gathering

Renown Health’s virtual Breastfeeding Circle is a great way for breastfeeding moms to find support, exchange experiences, and discuss any concerns they may have. Moms discuss milk supply, pumping, going back to work, sleeping, or lack of sleep, to name just a few. This group meets every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon via Zoom. Mind-Body Techniques To Lessen Side Effects Of Chemotherapy

The Renown Institute for Cancer is teaming up with Renie Anderson, a trained and certified expert in cancer treatment side effect management. Attend this workshop and learn mind-body techniques to help reduce anxiety and stress. The workshop walks participants through visualization and other activities to support healing. It also includes time for a Q&A session. This free event is available via any video-enabled device.


Meet The Instructors Tuesdays

Meet the Instructors Tuesday is a weekly event at Copper Cat Studio, where instructors present demos of their classes. This also coincides with Tuesday workshops in progress. This session will feature Tina Mokuau, Copper Cat Studio’s Alcohol Inks instructor. She is a resin/multimedia artist as well. Tina will be doing demos and will have her art for sale in the gallery room. Donna Smit will be teaching a Resin Canvas class. Studio owner and Mosaic artist Katie Packham will have mosaic demos in process.

COVID-19 SPECIAL STATEMENT: Masks are required for anyone visiting the studio- shopping or workshops. There is a hand sanitizing station in the entry for those briefly visiting. Students will need to enter through the side door and wash their hands thoroughly before class starts. Class size is limited to maintain social distancing measures. Pre-registration for all classes is required so that students receive the logistics email detailing safety protocols.


It’s Called A What?

What’s in a name? What do we call male animals vs. female animals? Join the Nevada Department of Wildlife for a fun exploration of names given to males, females, and babies of several different species found in Nevada.


You Are What You Eat

In partnership with Envirolution, the Nevada Department of Wildlife presents this virtual session that discusses the food web and the negative or positive influence on it that our behaviors can have.


Pronghorn Antelope Workshop

This year’s 2020 Pronghorn Antelope Workshop will be online. Education coordinator Martin Olson will host the presentation, including the life history of antelope, game care, taxidermy, hunting laws and regulations, safe responsible hunting, and field-scoring of pronghorn. This workshop is intended for those who were successful in obtaining an antelope tag for the 2020 season, however, anyone may attend. It is highly recommended that all antelope hunters attend, especially if this is your first time as a pronghorn tag holder.

“Velvet Duo” is Pat Esters and John Palmore. They perform a wide variety of music for your listening and dancing pleasure. This included R&B, Motown, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Disco, and Country. “Velvet” performs at casino cabarets, nightclubs, corporate events, and other special occasions throughout Nevada and California. Women’s Suffrage Centennial Patch

Calling all suffragettes: 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment which granted women the right to vote. In celebration of this milestone anniversary, Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada invites girls to participate in this multi-part Women’s Suffrage Centennial Patch Virtual Series. Throughout the series, content experts, community members, and Girl Scouts will educate girls about suffrage, voting, civil disobedience, and more. By attending this online series, girls will earn GSSN’s Women’s Suffrage Centennial patch. Patches are provided free of charge thanks to a generous donation from League of Women Voters of Nevada.
