Join four experts in the fields of public health, medicine, economics, and history as they discuss the ramifications of COVID-19 across disciplines. This session will focus on the cultural, medical, and economic considerations of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the public health response. Speakers include Hugh Shapiro, Ph.D., Associate Professor of History, Trudy Larson, M.D., Dean, School of Community Health Sciences, Mehmet Tosun, Ph.D., Professor of Economics, Barbara Smith Campbell Distinguished Professor of Nevada Tax Policy, Director of International Programs, College of Business and Cheryl Hug-English, M.D., Director, Student Health Center.

Crises As a Catalyst for Innovation

This two-day virtual workshop series will help participants determine the next steps for their business during COVID-19. Topics include navigating the possibility of failure and crisis as a catalyst for innovation. To encourage a safe space for participants to share their experiences, workshop enrollment is limited to 6 participants.


Camp Curiosity

Camp Curiosity provides free lesson plans, projects, games, and videos that are connected to PBS Reno’s on-air programs, including Curious George, Wild Kratts, Cat in the Hat, and Wild Nevada. There are also interactive contests and chances for children to appear on television. PBS Reno is partnering with Washoe County School District to promote distance education activities that tie to PBS Reno content on-air and online. Museum From Home

While the coronavirus pandemic has closed museums and canceled concerts, many of our local arts organizations are delivering culture and creativity online. Our local gem, The Nevada Museum of Art, is putting thousands of art pieces and objects in the museum online and offering art resources and activities for you to through its Museum from Home program. Girl Scout Virtual Events

Throughout the month of May, the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada will host a series of online events for children of all ages. Events include a virtual Scavenger Hunt with Brownie’s (Grade 2-3), The Artist in You with Junior’s & Cadette’s (Grades 4-8), Color Changing Milk Experiment with Daisies (Grades K-1) and Pre-K (Grade K in the Fall) Open House and a Diva Dance Party.

#HandsONatHome brings the Nevada Museum of Art’s monthly gallery-based program outside the walls of the Museum and into your home. Families are invited to engage in simple art practices using basic art supplies and household objects. For one of the activities, children of all ages can color a Seven Magic Mountains worksheet and share their creations on social media by tagging @NevadaArt, @ArtProductionFun, and #ShareNevadaArt.

Pinot’s Palette Classes and Take-Home Kits

These kits will have everything you need to take home and paint your very own masterpiece. Great for kids or adults, they include one 11×14 canvas, two gently used brushes, acrylic paints, printed step-by-step instructions or a video, a paper plate, and napkin.
