Fall is upon us which means winter isn’t far behind!   In anticipation of that, here are just a few recommendations for winterization of your home.

  • Disconnect hoses from outside water spigots.
  • Caulk & maintain weather stripping.
  • Insulate water lines.
  • Service heater, chimneys & stovepipes.
  • Repair roof, if necessary.
  • Close foundation vents.
  • Contract for snow removal, if necessary.
  • Service snow blower.
  • Install snow stakes.
  • Order wood supply, if necessary.
  • Store patio furniture.
  • Check batteries in smoke & carbon monoxide detectors & alarms.

AND

If you plan to be away for an extended amount of time, be sure to follow recommended procedures for turning off water to avoid pipes freezing in the home.
