Health and Wellness Options Abound in Incline Village

There’s something about Lake Tahoe’s incredible mountain lifestyle that just makes you want to get up and get moving — no matter if you’re indoors or out.

Incline Village-Crystal Bay has long been a community focused on providing immediate access to world-class healthcare facilities and countless amenities to improve one’s physical, mental, and social wellbeing.

Here, you can experience the breathtaking bliss of outdoor recreation by taking a hike on terrific trails, hitting the links on a pair of nationally acclaimed golf courses, or lacing up the sneakers with friends to enjoy the fast-growing sport of pickleball, among many other outdoor adventures.

And lest we forget, Incline Village is a marquee location for yoga classes and spa days, giving you the time you deserve to relax, reload and rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit.

As spring gets into high gear, here are a few reasons why health and wellness go hand in hand in Incline Village.

Community Health and Wellness Starts at Incline Village Community Hospital

One of the undeniable perks of owning a home in Incline-Crystal Bay is it’s only a 30- to 45-minute drive to Carson City and Reno. While making the quick trip down the hill provides easy access to big box stores and big city amenities, you don’t need to travel far to have convenient access to top-notch healthcare.

Incline Village Community Hospital (IVCH) is a four-bed critical access hospital offering 24-hour emergency care; laboratory, diagnostic and surgical capability; and physical therapy services thanks to a dedicated group of nurses and physicians.

IVCH also is home to the Incline Health Center, which provides critical access to excellent care in the areas of family medicine, internal medicine, pediatric care, orthopedic and sports medicine, cardiology, behavioral health, and palliative care services, to name a few.

The community hospital has been part of Tahoe Forest Health System since 1996 and has increased its footprint ever since. More growth is on the horizon, thanks to a $1.8 million donation from the Helmsley Charitable Trust that will fund state-of-the-art diagnostic and radiology equipment and expanded simulation-based training that will ensure the continued improvement of quality of life in Incline Village for years to come.

Incline Village Offers a Pair of Premium Health and Fitness Centers

While IVCH is undoubtedly a crucial amenity for the close-knit community of Incline-Crystal Bay, we think most residents agree the hospital is not always a place we want to end up.

Fortunately, healthcare systems in recent years have steadily promoted the importance of preventative care as a smart way to not only stay in shape, but also to avoid a costly health bill. Thankfully, Incline Village is home to a pair of premier locations loaded with diverse health and fitness options.

Incline Village Recreation Center a Health Haven

At 37,000 square feet, this first-class fitness center operated by the Incline Village General Improvement District is arguably the biggest and best in the Sierra Nevada.

The Incline Village Recreation Center offers plenty more than an exercise area packed with cardio and weight machines — try your sporting hand on professional-grade indoor racquetball and basketball courts; participate in a group yoga or fitness class; tailor your workout by training with renowned personal trainers, nutritionists and stress counselors, or record some laps in the 25-yard, 8-lane indoor pool. Be sure to sweat it all off inside the center’s relaxing and soothing saunas.

Whether you’re just visiting or a full-time homeowner taking advantage of exclusive rates available to IVGID residents and their guests, the Incline Village Recreation Center offers several activities for all ages.

Climb Higher at High Altitude Fitness

While High Altitude Fitness recently opened a sparkling new 27,000-square-foot facility in Truckee — 12,000 square feet of which is dedicated to indoor rock climbing — the gym/climbing center has been a health and fitness fixture in Incline Village for over 15 years.

The 13,000-square-foot business off Northwoods Drive boasts dedicated studios for group yoga, fitness and TRX/spin classes; plenty of state-of-the-art workout equipment; and a one-of-a-kind outdoor training facility called The Yard, where you can work out with premium equipment such as Battle Ropes, Plyo Boxes and Rogue Monkey Rigs.

But it’s all about reaching new heights at High Altitude Fitness — it’s in the name, after all. The Incline Village gym’s famed climbing center offers 3,800 vertical feet of challenging ascents, top roping and bouldering routes, in addition to offering youth programs, summer camps, and special events for all ages.

Spring Weather Opens Doors for Outdoor Health and Wellness Fun

Looking for a different kind of outdoor exercise? Check out these three fun options that opened in recent years to keep boosting the ever-growing community health and wellness profile of Incline Village:

  • Incline Bocce Ball Park: Having opened in summer 2020, the Incline Bocce Ball Park located in a wooded area next to the Incline Village Recreation Center is perfect for active adults looking to get moving during mild spring afternoons. Courts are available for group rentals for residents and the public.
  • Incline Bike Park: The Robert & Robin Holman Family Bike Park opened in fall 2017 and features a pump track, beginner and intermediate flow lines, and jumps that are both challenging and easy-going. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
  • Incline Disc Golf Course: Opening roughly a decade ago, the 18-hole North Tahoe Lions Club Disc Golf Course meanders through towering Jeffrey pines near the Incline Skateboard Park and Ridgeline Park ball fields. The course is fairly flat, and the great thing about disc golf is even if you’re not good at the sport, it still makes for a great afternoon hike through the forest.

After an incredible winter of record snowfall, the spring season is here, and warmer weather is upon us. There’s no better time than now to focus on improving your mind, body and spirit.
