Dickson Realty agents and employees have been working very hard on the Operation Backpack project for the past three weeks to get as many backpacks and school supplies together to help out this very important cause.
Currently there are over 3,000 homeless children in our community, which has increased 37% over the past three years. Our goal, along with several other sponsors was to gather and distribute 1,000 backpacks to youth served by the Family Shelter and ReStart programs, as well as homeless children served by the Washoe County School District Children in Transition program. A new backpack is such a small thing to most of us, but for these kids it really makes a big difference. Without even the most basic supplies, these students start at a disadvantage that only gets worse as the school year progresses
As a company Dickson Realty loves to give back to the community any way we can. Operation backpack was especially important to all of us. Most agents and employees at Dickson Realty attended a Washoe County school or have children that graduated or are currently enrolled. We searched the Sunday ads and used any coupons we could to stretch every dollar we collected. And we’re proud to announce that we collected over 85 backpacks full of school supplies. We feel honored to be a small part of this project and hope that we brought joy and happiness to some children who are in need of help right here in our community.
