Believe it or not Virginia City, NV played a part in shaping the 1960’s counter-culture scene when the first psychedelic rock poster was created for a concert by The Charlatans at the Red Dog Saloon. This poster is considered ‘the seed’ that started it all and is on display at the Brewery Arts Center along with the original Red Dog Saloon doors, vintage fashion, original posters, and handbills. With only a $10 donation suggested, this is history that should not be missed!

The Great Reno Balloon Race soars into Reno for its 41st year with 80+ colorful hot-air balloons. Although it is an early morning event there’s no doubt that the Super Glow Show and Dawn Patrol are worth waking up before the sun rises – it’s mesmerizing to watch these special balloons light up the morning darkness. And as the sun begins to rise so do the balloons during Mass Ascension, dotting the northern Nevada sky with their beauty. Walk Balloon Boulevard for crafts, souvenirs, food and hot drinks – perfect for a chilly early September morning.

Douglas County Rodeo & Concert

It’s two days of exciting rodeo with bulls, broncs, xtreme bronc, team roping, barrel racing, and breakaway. Gates open at 3:00 p.m. for Kid’s Day activities and vendors with the rodeo from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. followed by concerts  each night with performances by Jake Jacobson and Josh Abbott Band on Friday and Colten Jesse & The Hooligans and Easton Corbin on Saturday.

Both days include a range of attractions, such as bounce houses, obstacle courses, mutton bustin’, and food trucks.

The Silver State Art Festival

Join us for the fifth annual Silver State Art Festival in Carson City, where award-winning gourd artists, painters, photographers, woodworkers, glass and jewelry artists gather. The event, sponsored by the Nevada Gourd Society, brings together natural fine artistry from Nevada. On Friday evening, enjoy wine and early holiday shopping while chatting with artists about their techniques and inspiration. This indoor festival at the Fuji Exhibit Hall offers gourd art, basketry, and various fine arts and crafts. Vendors will sell artwork and supplies, with hands-on classes available for techniques like beading, carving, and more. The festival starts Friday at 5:00 p.m. with wine, food truck, and art exploration until 8:00 p.m.

Genoa Candy Dance Arts & Crafts Faire
