Fall is upon us which means winter isn’t far behind! In anticipation of that, here are just a few recommendations for winterization of your home.
- Disconnect hoses from outside water spigots.
- Caulk & maintain weather stripping.
- Insulate water lines.
- Service heater, chimneys & stovepipes.
- Repair roof, if necessary.
- Close foundation vents.
- Contract for snow removal, if necessary.
- Service snow blower.
- Install snow stakes.
- Order wood supply, if necessary.
- Store patio furniture.
- Check batteries in smoke & carbon monoxide detectors & alarms.
AND
If you plan to be away for an extended amount of time, be sure to follow recommended procedures for turning off water to avoid pipes freezing in the home.
