This Sunday, Dickson Realty will be hosting their annual summer party with Concert on the Green in Montreux. This year we are so lucky to have the Reno Jazz Orchestra playing the salsa inspired music of Tito Puente. How exciting is that?! The Reno jazz Orchestra will also be featuring the musician, director, producer and 6-time Grammy nominee Wayne Wallace.

Tito Puente, known as the King of Latin Music, is best known for dance-oriented mambo and Latin jazz compositions. During the 1950’s at the height of his career, he brought Afro-Cuban and Caribbean sounds, like mambo, cha-cha-cha, to mainstream audiences. Later he moved on to more diverse sounds such as the bossa nova and a fusion of different Latin jazz genres that became known as “salsa” (a term he disliked). He has won numerous Grammy and other awards and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Later in the evening, the concert continues downtown as part of the 17th annual Artown festival. Under the Artown umbrella, the RJO will impress the crowds with more of the vibrant and captivating music of Tito Puente. The Mambo Kings will join Wayne Wallace will be bringing with him the great Latin jazz artists The Mambo Kings and some of his own big band arrangements. This evening event is FREE and will be held at Wingfield Park at 7:30pm.

Whether you join us at Montreux or head down to Wingfield Park in the evening, this is certainly an event you do not want to miss!
