Summer Moonlight Hike & Social

Take in a sunset to moonrise on this fun one-mile, paved road hike to the Crystal Bay lookout. This outing is for Seniors 55+ (adults 21+ are welcome) and includes transportation, wine, cheese, and snacks. On August 1st you’ll enjoy the Sturgeon Moon, named for the large number of sturgeon fish found this time of year in the Great Lakes and August 30th is a Blue Moon, also a Supermoon as it will be the closest full Moon to the earth this year! Cost is $25 per person or $20 with your IVGID pass.

Wa She Shu (The People) the original tribal name for what most locals refer to as Wahoe, or as the tribe prefers Washo, will be hosting a cultural talk this August in Olympic Valley where the Washoe Tribe’s roots run deep. Every Friday your guide will introduce you to the natural landmarks in the area, and the local animals and plants and how the tribe used them. You may be wondering why the name of the resort changed it’s name – this is your chance to learn! Take advantage of this time to gain the knowledge to form a more respectful and complete understanding of Lake Tahoe and the areas surrounding the lake. 2023 Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook Off

If the smell of BBQ is in the air you know it’s time for the annual rib cook off in Downtown Sparks. This is the Super bowl of rib competitions and a great way to wind down your summer over Labor Day weekend. Bring your appetite because there’s over 250,000 pounds of ribs barbecued over the course of the festival with two dozen of the best BBQ teams competing. You may purchase tickets for the VIP Rib Village, settle in at the multiple seating areas, or bring your own set up for fun outdoor dining then peruse the huge arts & crafts fair, or take in one of the many live concerts.
