When you’re in Montrêux, Reno, you’re in a community unlike any other in the Truckee Meadows. With its towering pine trees, elite golf course and well-maintained trails, this prestigious neighborhood envelopes its visitors and residents with natural beauty. The people who live here are equally inviting and enjoy making the most of this special place.
I’ve been a part of Montrêux since it opened in 1996 when my wife and I became members of the Montrêux Golf & Country Club. Then in 2007, we moved into a home we built in the neighborhood. Both of us are past board members of the club, and we’re quite active. So, we really know what it’s like to live in Montrêux, Reno. Here are some aspects of the community that we love to share with people who are considering moving here.
What We Love About Living In Montrêux Reno: The Neighborhood
All of the homes in Montrêux are semi-custom or custom and modeled after the superior quality of northern European architecture. Likewise, the high-quality landscaping takes its cue from the natural surroundings at the base of Mount Rose. Many residents also love that Montrêux is located in Nevada, which has no state income tax.
One significant advantage of living in Montrêux is being around other interesting, successful, well-traveled, social people. They like to golf, take trips and entertain. While the people here are successful, they are also casual and friendly. I like to say that they all started in the same place working hard, and good things happened to them.
The neighborhood’s demographics have also changed to include more children and families. When Montrêux was first built, most residents were either semi-retired or retired. Now, about 125 to 150 children live in the community, which most people appreciate. I know my wife and I do. We miss our kids and like to hear kids playing. It makes the community more vibrant.
Montrêux is also a very safe neighborhood and features a 24-hour guarded entry.
What We Love About Living In Montrêux Reno: The Clubhouse
The Montrêux clubhouse is the hub of the community and often the reason that many people choose to live here. It’s where neighbors can drop in and catch up with one another.
Membership to the club is not required or included in purchasing a home, but it is a vibrant and vital part of the Montrêux community. There are three levels of membership (social, sport, and golf), each at different price levels and monthly dues. All three have the same obligation to spend $1,200 a year in the food and beverage department.
At the clubhouse, you will find a gorgeous pool, state-of-the-art fitness center, and delicious dining options, all surrounded by the stunning Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. In the upcoming year, the clubhouse is expanding its dining to include a more casual option and a slightly more formal and quieter one.
Many social groups also regularly gather at the clubhouse to play games or discuss common interests.
