We’ll say it … Reno has gone to the dogs! But, only in the best way. There are so many Reno dog friendly places you can take Fido, from restaurants to shops to activities. Here’s a list of some of our favorite Reno dog-friendly things by neighborhood.
Downtown Reno Dog Friendly Places
Downtown Reno might get the award for the most dog friendly places and activities in the city. It’s chock-full of restaurants, shops, parks and even hotels where you can take your pupper.
Eat & Drink
Although local health code laws prohibit bringing dogs (except service dogs) inside a restaurant, many Reno restaurants will allow dogs in outdoor settings such as patios or decks. To be sure that Fido is welcome, check with the staff first. Here are some Reno dog friendly food places in downtown:
- The Basement Reno: You can grab a meal or beverage and enjoy this underground marketplace with your dog. Grab a salad at Chomp, a coffee or tea at Global Coffee or a sweet treat at Sugar Love Chocolates.
- Lucky Dawg: With a name like that, how can this food vendor not be dog-friendly? Grab a hot dog or sausage and eat it while you walk along the Truckee River.
- Old Granite Street Eatery
- Pignic Pub & Patio
- Powning District: This cluster of brick buildings right on the Truckee River has a large grass area in front where dogs are welcome. Enjoy a cup of coffee from Hub Coffee Roasters or something sweet from Dorinda’s Chocolates.
- Sierra St. Kitchen & Cocktails: On nice days, this downtown restaurant opens its sidewalk patio and welcomes well-behaved dogs on a leash.
- West Street Market: Grab a meal at one of the many restaurants that surround this open-air space in downtown Reno and enjoy it with your dog. Restaurants include Icecycle Creamery, Maya’s South Indian Cuisine, Sabrina’s West Street Kitchen, Sol Kava, Thali and The Wine Bar at Thali, The DeLuxe, and The Pizza Collective.
- Wild River Grille: Visit on Mondays with your pooch and 10% of your check will be donated to the SPCA of Northern Nevada.

- Antiques & Treasures Antique Mall: This large antique mall loves dogs so much that there are even treats at the entrance.
- La Terre Verte: Dogs are welcome at the eco-friendly boutique.
- The Basement Reno: Escape the heat or cold with your dog in Reno’s only subterranean marketplace. There are 12 places to check out, including Beautiful Bearded Man, Chomp, Escape, Global Coffee, Lash Envy Reno, Orenda Styles, Pantry Products, Studio Fourteen, Sugar Love Chocolates, Sweat Box, Tahoe Nevada Love and The Stem.
- West Elm: Check out the major retailer to open in downtown Reno in 30 years with your furry friend.

- Reno Aces: Bring your dog to see Aceball every Wednesday home game!
- Reno Riverwalk: Explore the heart of downtown Reno and meander along the Truckee River.

- Link Piazzo Dog Park: Located in Hidden Valley Regional Park this off-leash park has two separately fenced areas: one for large dogs, and one just for small dogs 30 pounds and less. The park has a double-gated entrance, water fountains, park benches and shade structures.
