We drive by these distinguished homes all the time but this fall provides the opportunity to step inside five of these Reno beauties at Historic Reno Preservation Society’s 5th annual Reno Harvest of Homes Tour, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday September 27, 2014.
Homes range from a grand mansion to a stone cottage that seems to arise from a fairy tale. Three are located in Old Southwest Reno and two homes highlight Reno’s two historic Conservation Districts. The houses were selected for their beauty, significance and unique interiors. “We want to showcase the most celebrated of Reno’s older neighborhoods and we believe the homes we’ve selected reflect an interesting mix of styles and locations,” said event chair Sharon Honig-Bear. Details about this year’s homes are available at Historic Reno Preservation Society’s website, historicreno.org
Tickets for the Home Tour are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the event. Ticket outlets include Sundance Bookstore, St. Ives Florist, Ryrie’s Art and Home, Rail City Garden Center,
Napa-Sonoma Grocery Company, Paper Moon, Moana Nursery and The Freckled Frog. These locations accept checks and cash only and will sell tickets through Sept. 26th. Tickets may also be ordered online through the website.
Proceeds from the Reno Harvest of Homes Tour are used for the Neighborhood Preservation Fund, offering grants for community improvement projects. Ms. Honig-Bear says, “We know that the public will enjoy this rare opportunity to get an inside peek of Reno’s unique residential history.”
