Many have heard the story of the Donner Party, but have you walked a mile – or more – in their shoes to really experience even a small part of their journey? You can!
This October 5th and 6th, join the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce and many local sponsors for the annual Donner Party Hike. While exploring this region on interpretive walks and hikes, you can almost hear the clip-clop of oxen and the rumble of wagon wheels. Learn about the success of the Stephens Party; the tragic events the Donner Party endured; and the importance of the transcontinental railroad. Put on your hiking boots, choose a hike and explore this area’s history.
There are seven hikes from which to choose and don’t miss Saturday afternoon’s hamburger lunch and presentation by the author of ‘Desperate Passage’.
