Skiing for Schools is a Win/Win. The snow is here and the Sierra resorts are open for business! There are many ways to enjoy the slopes, of course, but not everyone can afford a season pass or have enough ski days to warrant one. A great alternative to consider is the Excellence in Education’s Skiing for Schools program. This gives you a taste of all the area ski resorts instead of limiting yourself to just one with a season pass and at supremely discounted prices. For example, a typical day lift ticket at Sugarbowl will run you $80. Through the Skiing for Schools program, you can score the same ticket for just $35. Plus you get a taste of Nordic skiing as well as downhill! There is great flexibility with this program because the resorts have all graciously provided week-long windows in which to use your discounted ticket – they are not single day use tickets!
It’s easy to buy your tickets, too. Generally they are available for purchase during the week prior to the ski/board dates at Porter’s in Truckee and Tahoe Dave’s in Truckee, Kings Beach and Tahoe City. They are also available for sale directly on the Excellence in Education website.
And perhaps the very best part is that while enjoying the slopes you are contributing to our local Tahoe Truckee Unified School District because the proceeds from your lift ticket purchase go directly to the Excellence in Education Foundation, which provides enhanced educational opportunities for our local students. A true win/win for everyone!
