Nevada Museum of ArtMaynard Dixon: The Paltenghi Collection (sponsored in part by Dickson Realty) and the Miradas: Ancient Roots in Modern & Contemporary Mexican Art, (from the Bank of America Collection) will both be on exhibition until 7/16. The Bruce C. Paltenghi and Dr. Richard Paltenghi Collection contains over sixty artworks offering an intimate look at Dixon’s life in the American West. The Miradas exhibit features over 100 pieces that examine artists from the years after the Mexican Revolution to the present day.

 

NCET Tech Awards – The nominations are in for the NCET Tech and Reno Gazette-Journal Business of the Year Awards. The NCET Tech Awards recognize individuals and companies in Northern Nevada who have greatly contributed to the growth and stature of the technology community. The RGJ Business of the Year Awards honor leaders from small to large companies. The EDAWN Awards celebrate people and resources as contributors to growth in the area. The NCET/RGJ Awards Dinner will honor the winners on 3/30 at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

 

New Pro Sport in Reno – Professional Soccer made a big entrance when the Reno 1868 FC played an exhibition game at Greater Nevada Field (GNF; the Reno Aces ballpark) against the San Jose Earthquakes in front of 6,289 enthusiastic fans. The next preseason game at GNF is 4pm on 3/11 against Sacramento and the 2017 season’s opener is set for 3/25 against the Orange County Blues.

 

Wolf Pack Attack – The University of Nevada, Reno Men’s Basketball team (22-6, 11-4) overcame a halftime 8 point deficit to beat Boise State, 85-77 in before 8,625 fans. Nevada is tied for first place in the Mountain West Conference and face Colorado State in a battle for first place in the season closer on 3/4 in Reno.
